Hobbies & Adventures September 2018 Photography

by Jennifer Schloesser

“In August 2017, we took our yearly vacation to Idaho. Nick and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary while watching the totality of the Solar Eclipse. The surrounding mountains, calmness of the lake, the colors of the horizon and the coolness of the day are captured in this picture during totality. It was an amazing experience to witness a solar eclipse in its entirety, and it was extra special to have done it with my family.

“For the eclipse, we met up with our friends from Spokane and another family from Boise, Idaho meeting at Lake Alturas in the Sawtooth Mountains. The rest of the trip was with my husband Nick, our son Vincent, and our dog Lola.”

“Traveling has always been apart of my upbringing. Now that I have a child, my husband and I would like to instill that same sense of adventure with him. These are memories that we can cherish for a lifetime.

“This was taken at the end of August 2017. This photo was taken on the Going to the Sun Highway in Glacier National Park. The haze in the photos was smoke from a wildfire, caused by a lightning strike. The Going to the Sun Highway spans 50 miles through the Rocky Mountains and crosses the Continental Divide at Logan Pass. The road offers scenery of mountain peaks, valleys, waterfalls, and wildlife. We were fortunate to see  a moose and her calf walking through the river and a black bear foraging for berries.”
